Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
Providing compassionate, person-centred care in the comfort of your own home
At Global Boutique Care, we believe everyone deserves to receive safe, respectful and compassionate care that supports their independence, dignity and quality of life. Our aim is to work alongside individuals and their families to provide care that is tailored to their personal needs, preferences and circumstances.
1. What is Global Boutique Care?
Global Boutique Care is a domiciliary home care agency that provides care and support to adults and young people aged 18 and over in their own homes. We support people in maintaining their independence, dignity and wellbeing while they receive the assistance they need.
Our services can include personal care, bathing, dressing, grooming, medication support, meal preparation, light housekeeping and companionship.
2. Who can Global Boutique Care support?
We provide care and support for adults aged 18 years and over, including older people and adults who may require assistance because of their individual care and support needs.
We recognise that every person is different, so we assess each individual's needs before care starts.
3. What types of care do you provide?
Our services may include:
- Personal care and hygiene
- Bathing and showering
- Dressing and undressing
- Grooming
- Toileting and continence support
- Medication prompting or administration where appropriately assessed and authorised
- Meal preparation and support with eating and drinking
- Light household duties
- Laundry
- Shopping support where agreed
- Companionship
- Support to maintain independence
- Assistance with daily routines
- Support to attend appointments or community activities where this type of support forms part of the agreed care package.
We will agree the exact services with you and document them in your care plan.
4. Will I receive a care plan?
Yes. Before care begins, we will carry out an assessment of your needs, preferences, routines, risks and desired outcomes.
Your care plan will explain what support you require and how you would like that support to be provided.
You will be involved in creating your care plan, and we will review it regularly or whenever your needs change.
5. Will I be involved in decisions about my care?
Absolutely.
We believe you should have choice and control over your care wherever possible. We will listen to your wishes, preferences and concerns and involve you in decisions about how your care is delivered.
We will never assume that one approach is suitable for everyone.
6. Can I choose what time my carer visits?
We will discuss your preferred visit times during your assessment and try to accommodate your requirements.
The agreed visit times will depend on your care needs, availability of carers and the requirements of your care package.
If there are unavoidable changes, we will communicate these with you as soon as possible.
7. Will I have the same carer?
We understand that having familiar carers can help people feel comfortable and secure.
Where possible, we aim to provide continuity of care by introducing you to a small team of carers who understand your needs and preferences.
However, there may occasionally be circumstances where another trained member of staff needs to provide your care.
8. Can I choose whether a male or female carer supports me?
We will consider your preferences when arranging your care.
Where reasonably practicable, we will try to accommodate preferences relating to the gender of your carer, particularly where such a choice is important for personal care, dignity or cultural reasons.
9. What happens if my needs change?
You should contact us as soon as possible if you notice any change in your health, mobility, behaviour, medication, personal circumstances or care needs.
We will review your care plan and risk assessments and consider whether additional support or professional advice is required.
Where appropriate, we will work with relevant professionals, such as your GP, district nurse, social worker or other healthcare professionals.
10. How do you keep clients safe?
Your safety is one of our highest priorities.
We assess the risks associated with your care and put appropriate measures in place to reduce them.
Our staff receive appropriate training and are expected to follow the policies and procedures of Global Boutique Care related to safeguarding, medication, infection prevention and control, moving and handling, health and safety, confidentiality, and other areas of care.
11. What happens if I have concerns about my safety or someone else's safety?
You are encouraged to inform us immediately if you have any concerns about your safety or the safety of another person.
We take safeguarding concerns seriously and will follow our safeguarding procedures.
You will be treated respectfully, and your concerns will be listened to without judgement.
12. How do you protect my dignity and privacy?
We treat every client with dignity, respect and compassion.
During personal care, we will:
- Explain what we are doing.
- Seek your consent.
- We'll respect your privacy.
- Maintain your modesty.
- We would always encourage you to do as much as you can independently.
- We'll respect your personal preferences.
- We will never make you feel embarrassed or uncomfortable.
Your home is your private space, and our staff are expected to respect it.
13. Will my information be kept confidential?
Yes.
We treat your personal information as confidential and only share it where there is a legitimate reason and in accordance with applicable data protection and confidentiality requirements.
Our staff are expected to maintain confidentiality both during and after their employment.
14. Can my family be involved in my care?
Yes, where appropriate and with your consent.
We can work with family members, representatives and other professionals to support your care.
However, we will always respect your right to privacy and your wishes about who is involved in your care.
15. What happens if I cannot make my own decisions?
If there are concerns about your ability to make a particular decision, we will follow the appropriate legal and organisational procedures.
We will always seek to support you to make your own decisions wherever possible and will not assume that someone lacks capacity simply because they need assistance.
Where a best-interest decision is required, this will be handled appropriately and in accordance with relevant legislation and guidance.
16. Can I refuse care?
Yes.
You have the right to make choices about your care, including refusing a particular aspect of care, provided you have the capacity to make that decision.
Our staff will listen to your reasons and discuss alternatives where appropriate.
Any significant refusal or change in circumstances will be appropriately recorded and escalated where necessary.
17. What happens if my carer is running late?
We understand that punctuality is important.
If a carer is delayed, we will take appropriate steps to communicate with you and ensure that your care needs are not unnecessarily compromised.
We will monitor unexpected delays and take action where necessary.
18. What happens if my regular carer is unavailable?
We'll arrange for another suitably trained and competent member of staff where possible.
We aim to ensure that any replacement carer has access to the information necessary to provide safe and appropriate care.
19. Do your carers receive training?
Yes.
We ensure that staff have appropriate training and competency for the duties they are expected to undertake.
Training may include areas such as safeguarding, infection prevention and control, moving and handling, medication, health and safety, person-centred care, equality and diversity and other relevant subjects.
Staff competency will also be monitored.
20. Can I give feedback about my care?
Yes, and we actively encourage feedback
We want to know what we are doing well and where we can improve.
You can provide feedback verbally, in writing, or through a phone call or through our feedback processes.
Positive feedback is also valuable because it helps us understand what matters most to our clients.
21. What if I am unhappy with my care?
Please tell us.
We encourage clients to raise concerns as soon as possible so that we can investigate them and try to resolve the issue appropriately.
You will not be treated unfairly for making a complaint, and your care remains our top priority.
Our complaints procedure explains how complaints are received, investigated, responded to and used to improve our service.
22. Can I request a change to my carer?
Yes. If you feel that your current care arrangement is not working well for you, please speak to us.
We will listen to your concerns and consider whether an alternative arrangement can be made, taking into account your needs, preferences and available staff.
23. Can Global Boutique Cares help me maintain my independence?
Yes. This is one of our key aims.
We would rather not take away your independence by doing everything for you.
Instead, where safe and appropriate, our carers will encourage and support you to participate in everyday activities and make your own choices.
Our goal is to support you in doing what you can for yourself, rather than doing everything for you.
24. Will you respect my cultural, religious and personal preferences?
Yes.
We respect individual differences and aim to provide inclusive care that recognises each person's preferences, beliefs, values, culture and lifestyle.
Your preferences will be discussed during assessment and reflected in your care plan wherever possible.
25. Can I help with meals?
Yes.
Depending on your agreed care package, carers can support you with meal preparation and encourage healthy eating and drinking.
We will consider your dietary preferences, allergies, intolerances and any relevant information provided by healthcare professionals.
26. Can you support me with medication?
Yes. Medication support can be provided where the request is within the agreed service and the carer has been appropriately trained and assessed as competent.
Depending on your needs, this service may include prompting, assisting with or administering medication in accordance with the appropriate procedures and your care plan.
Medication support will be documented appropriately.
27. Can my carer do household tasks?
Yes. This is only the case where these tasks are included in your agreed care package.
This may include light housekeeping, laundry, changing bed linen or other reasonable household tasks that directly support your wellbeing and ability to remain safely at home.
The service is not intended to provide general domestic cleaning unrelated to your care needs.
